Aging as an evolutionary process

In consulting and generally talking with people on the subject of age, I have found that many, if not most people have an incredibly warped and fearful attitude towards the process of aging. If only I had a dollar for each time that somebody said that "Life gets boring after you turn 25" or "I'm terrified of turning 30" I would be a very rich man indeed. We do indeed see that many of our peers seem to deteriorate and lose their vitality as the years go by, but is this necessarily something we should fear for ourselves? Perhaps this is very much a matter of attitude and lifestyle choice. I have met and witnessed many 50+ individuals who appear to be radiating in all areas of life. They have wisdom, fitness, intelligence, experience, resources, and CHOICE.

A few thoughts on the limitations of politicial paradigm & Gay Marriage

The political consciousness of a nation can only ever see a little ahead of its current paradigm. It fails to understand the needs and wants of future generations and other global demands. Think of the 'white australia' policy - they couldn't see beyond themselves at the time, yet that paradigm crumbled under the force of immigration - and those immigrants have contributed vastly to this diverse and tolerant nation. Same goes for gay marriage - it's going to happen; it's only a matter of time. The current leaders will be remembered as old fashioned and regressive.

The voting and buying power of the consumer in a consumer society will ultimately win and force governments to meet the people's demand with a supply. Demand = Supply is the basic formula for social change. With more politicians, celebrities and others with media attention demanding the right for gay marriage - it'll happen eventually. I'll be conservative and guess that it'll be within the next 20 years.

Spiritual Teachers & Criticism

I've written down some fleeting thoughts in response to my observations of popular spiritual teachers in the social media scene. It is my observation that many contemporary gurus continue in the tradition of holding themselves untouchable and unquestionable, as if their statements come directly from the purest source of soulful knowledge. The fans and followers of these individuals continue to propagate this guru status, but in the process they dishonor themselves, projecting divinity and wisdom onto the teacher and denying in themselves.

Is 'Philosophy' a scary word? How to embrace the natural Philosopher in you.

“Philosophy, as I have so far understood and lived it, means living voluntarily among ice and high mountains—seeking out everything strange and questionable in existence, everything so far placed under a ban by morality." - Friedrich Nietzche
I sense in my discussions with various people, that the word 'Philosophy' often carries with it a certain intellectual or academic stigma. A notion that one requires a certain education, mental skillset or background in order to engage in the subject.
